Friday Fun Day: Netflix Movies

If you are looking for something to watch on Friday movie night, why not check out some of these films currently on Netflix? I’ve seen each one that I’m recommending so I’ll put my own short review as well!

This is a seriously awesome Disney film and the first one I can remember that has a “princess” without any prince. There is no love interest, just Moana on an adventure to discover herself and why she is here. It has great songs that you’ll end up singing all day and it’s really a lot of fun. I give it a 9/10.

This movie is based on a true story and one that I found pretty fascinating. A gay man in World War II who is an extremely intelligent mathematician and can break enemy codes and how it helped end the war, but also what happened to homosexuals in that time period if their sexual orientation was discovered. Of course, I like anything Benedict Cumberbatch is in because he’s my favorite actor. I give it an 8/10.

If you like musicals you’ll like this movie! It’s done on a stage but the actors did a great job (you may recognize the main star from Supergirl if you watch that show). It’s about the boys who sold newspapers back in the late 1800s in New York City and how their lives were and what kind of things they had to go through, which was pretty fascinating to me because I’d never thought about it before. The songs were fun as well. I give it a 7/10.

This is a great suspense film, though I personally wasn’t thrilled with the ending. The movie itself, however, was well-acted by the two main stars and certainly kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. I will say one good thing about the ending: I never saw it coming. Usually, I know how a movie will end, but this time I was completely shocked. I give it a 7/10.

This is not one of the scariest films I’ve seen. I would describe it less horror and more suspense film. However, I enjoyed it and it was the message of it that connected to me: what it’s like to lose a loved one, especially a spouse, and how hard it is to raise a child, especially on your own. There is another overall theme to the movie but if I said it I would spoil the plot so I won’t. But, it is a very good film and I found it very thrilling! I give it an 8/10.

That’s it for this Friday! Keep an eye out as I post new movies from places like Redbox, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime! Have a great weekend everyone!
