When I was growing up I remember times when I had a lot of fun with my family. So, if you’re looking for something to do with your kids this weekend, check out this list! They aren’t all free, but sometimes you can splurge a little!
In almost every city (in America at least) there is a miniature golf course. I loved doing miniature golf, and many of these places also have arcade games, racing, wall-climbing, etc. You could really spend the entire day at one of these places and have an amazing time! There’s usually something for everyone and you can head out when the kids get bored (or you run out of money). I have such fond memories of miniature golf that one of my first dates with my (now) husband was at a miniature golf course.
Whether it’s a water park, Disney World (or land), Six Flags, or whatever it happens to be, why not save up and splurge on a trip to an amusement park? You’ll make a ton of memories, have a great time, and it’ll be something your kids will never forget! I still remember my trip to Disney, though I was a little too young to remember everything. But I know that I had a great time and I look forward to taking our own kids there one day!
I really loved bowling as a kid, even when I had no idea what I was doing. My mom and I even joined a bowling league for a little while and won! I know your kids will have a great time as well. There are usually arcade games in most bowling alleys as well as greasy food and soda, which all kids enjoy. So, why not spend a few hours at your local bowling alley?
If you’re near a beach, take your kid to the beach! If you aren’t near one, either make it a vacation to head to the beach or find a great pool nearby. Kids love to swim and if they haven’t learned, now is a great time to teach them! I loved going to the beach and it was another popular spot for dates with my (now) husband. But a pool is fun too because you don’t have to worry about salt water, sand, or sea creatures – so whatever you choose!
Either head out for a night at the movie theater or grab a family-friendly movie from Redbox and spend the evening at home. Get that popcorn, candy, and soda and have a great family night together! It’s a good way to make memories with your children and even teach them valuable lessons by using plots and characters from the film. I loved movies and still do so a lot of happy memories from my own childhood come from movie nights.
Although I know most kids today prefer electronics, I used to love board games and you can still get your kids interested in them too! Board games are a great way to spend time together as a family, talk, and laugh, and make some great memories. It’s also a good time to teach them how to have a healthy sense of competition, how to be a good winner, and how to be a good loser. So, not only will you have a great time with your family, but you can use these nights as learning tools!
I know none of these ideas are original and maybe you find them obvious, but I made this in case your kids are getting bored and you aren’t sure what to do with them. I know I got bored a lot as a kid and these things always entertained me.
Have an awesome weekend!
