So, every Friday I want to post some fun stuff whether it’s activities, books, movies, TV shows or whatever that are clean and family-friendly.
Today I’m going to post some TV shows that I recommend from Netflix. Now, not all of these are kid-friendly, but none of them are rated “M” for mature or anything like that.
If you love the stories of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, you’ll definitely enjoy this series from BBC about a modern-day Sherlock Holmes. It is the original character of Sherlock but instead of being set in the traditional Victorian era, it is based in the 21st century. It is filled with puzzles, mystery, action, and even humor! There is very little swearing or sexual content. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.
Do you love the stories of King Arthur and the Round Table with his mentor, the wizard Merlin? Then you’re certain to find this show interesting! It is basically the origin story of Merlin and Arthur, though it has it’s own twists and turns and doesn’t really follow canon lore. But it is a clean, family-friendly show. Of course, there is magic, but as it is fictional and fantasy I think that’s to be expected. However, there is no sexual content and very little swearing. It’s funny and full of adventure!
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix original)
A hilarious Netflix original series it’s a goofy story of Kimmy Schmidt who was in a cult for years and when she finally escapes has to face the real world. Because she lived in a world without technology she knows nothing of modern technology or how the world works and faces many funny and silly situations. This is a pretty clean comedy with little sexual content or swearing, but not for kids as there are many jokes and situations they just wouldn’t understand. But if you need some laughter in your life, I highly recommend this show!
A.D. Kingdom and Empire
This show gives us an idea of what happened after Jesus was taken back to heaven. While there are a few inaccuracies, this series truly delves into things that the Bible never discussed, like the personal lives of Caiaphus (the high priest who sentenced Jesus to death) and Pilate. I don’t remember any major Biblical inaccuracies but I thought it was well-acted and the cinematography reminded me of professional historical movies. I think they did a great job! I just wish there was more than one season. So, if you want a more detailed look at the book of Acts and the personal lives of some well-known Biblical names, this is a great show for you!
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (CW)
If you enjoy Marvel and DC Comics you’ll like this show. These characters aren’t as well known as those in the Avengers or the Justice League, but they all have very interesting personalities, abilities, and storylines that are followed on this trip through time. Very similar to Doctor Who in many respects, this show has (mostly) good actors and a fun storyline that occasionally ties into The Flash, The Arrow, and Supergirl (all shows on Netflix too btw).
All those shows are on my Netflix list and I definitely recommend them to any of my readers! There are others but I’ll list them in another Friday post, as well as some really great movies!
Hope you guys have an awesome weekend!
