    Friday Fun Day: Netflix Movies

If you are looking for something to watch on Friday movie night, why not check out some of these films currently on Netflix? I’ve seen each one that I’m recommending so I’ll put my own short review as well! This is a seriously awesome Disney film and the first one I can remember that has a “princess” without any prince. There is no love interest, just Moana on an adventure to discover herself and why she is here. It has great songs that you’ll end up singing all day and it’s really a lot of fun. I give it a 9/10. This movie is based on a true story and…

    The Gift of Wisdom

Wisdom truly is a gift from God which is why so many people don’t have it. And not all Christ-followers have this gift either, it is something that God chooses to give to people. So, what exactly is wisdom? Wisdom is knowing what to do with the knowledge that you receive. You see, we all have knowledge. We don’t all have the gift of knowledge so many of us struggle to learn new things. I’ll talk more about that in my post on the gift of knowledge. But we all learn things whether through school, work, books, or life experiences. For example, children learn quickly that if they touch a…

    Gifts of the Spirit

Now that my study on sin for this blog is completed, I asked the Lord what He wanted me to write about next and He told me that His children need to know more about the gifts of the Spirit. So, I turned to 1 Corinthians and Romans, chapter 12 in both, to learn what those gifts are and I am going to write about each one every week. For today, however, I’m going to give you a list of the spiritual gifts I’ll be writing on and a brief overview of each. Monday’s Encouragement: God Has a Plan

One thing God has been teaching me for the past 7 months is that He always has a plan for us. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jer. 29:11) 11 In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will, 12 in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of His glory. (Eph. 1:11-12) 39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had…

    Sunday’s Prayer: For Peace

Today is my 30th birthday! Yay! We all have fears, stress, worries, and anxieties that try to take over our lives and we all need peace. God says that He will give us His peace that surpasses all understanding. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27) “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with…

Saturday Thoughts: How to Handle Non-Christians

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how we, as followers of Christ, should handle non-Christians. I haven’t been around non-Christians for much of my life until I started ballroom dancing. I grew up around Christians and in the church – even my homeschool group was Christian. After I quit ballroom dancing I was surrounded again by Christians, except when I went to college for a year. But now I am around them again and so I keep asking the Lord what I should do. Non-Christians certainly aren’t terrible people. In fact, the sad truth is that I’ve had more non-Christians be kind to me than I have had “Christians”…

    Friday Fun Day: Idea Time

Here are some great ideas if you are trying to find something fun to do that isn’t super-expensive on a Friday or over the weekend! Tour Your Town We often take the cities we live in for granted, especially if we’ve lived there for several years. So, why not look at your town in a new way? Check it out as a tourist would! My favorite thing to do is head over to tripadvisor.com, type in the name of my city, and look at the top things to do (or see). Then find ones that are either free or cheap, add them to a list and head out this weekend…

    Living for Christ

This is the last post of my series on sin and, instead of breaking down individual sins or what we should or should not do as Christians, I feel the Lord is leading me instead to talk a bit about personal convictions. There are some things in the Bible that God tells us specifically not to do and if we do them, we are sinning. But, if you are reading God’s Word as should be, you’ll already know what those are and some I’ve already broken down. However, there are some “grey” areas in our lives that the Bible doesn’t specifically talk about and it is those areas that I…
