    More Than Ordinary

I think that far too often we Christians settle for an ordinary life. Go to college, get a job, get married, have kids, hopefully, die happy without too many regrets. That’s an ordinary life. That’s the kind of life that most non-Christians strive for and desire. But we were made for more than that! The moment we received salvation, we became extraordinary – and that is the kind of life God wants us to have. Do you know why I think there are so many Christians living from paycheck to paycheck? I don’t think it’s God’s will at all. I think it’s because people settle for what they have and think God…

    Doubt is Not Okay

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of preachers saying that doubt is okay. Now, their point is probably valid – I haven’t watched all of their sermons and maybe they’re just saying that God won’t punish us for doubting, which I believe is true. And yes, God can “handle” our doubts (I hear that from preachers a lot) and I think what they mean by those words is that God isn’t thrown off when we doubt Him, which is also true because He already knew that we would doubt Him and when. However, nowhere in the Bible does it say that doubt is okay. In fact, God’s Word says the…

    We Are Not Cursed

Growing up I used to believe in generational curses. I thought that, for example, worry was a generational curse because my mom worries, my grandma worried, and it probably goes further back down the line. But recently I’ve been learning that those who are born-again are not under any curse, generational or not, because Jesus took all curses on His own body when He died on the cross. The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.” Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone…

    Hypocrisy

Before I get started, I want to apologize for not making a video today. I have a cold and only really have the energy to do a few written posts before I’ll need to rest again. But I should be able to make a video next week! One thing that really bothers me about people, and what I wanted to discuss today, is when we are hypocrites. And guess what? It isn’t just Christians that can be hypocrites. All people have been this way at one point or another: you tell someone to do something, or not to do it, but you yourself are doing it, or not doing it.…

    Living for Christ

This is the last post of my series on sin and, instead of breaking down individual sins or what we should or should not do as Christians, I feel the Lord is leading me instead to talk a bit about personal convictions. There are some things in the Bible that God tells us specifically not to do and if we do them, we are sinning. But, if you are reading God’s Word as should be, you’ll already know what those are and some I’ve already broken down. However, there are some “grey” areas in our lives that the Bible doesn’t specifically talk about and it is those areas that I…

My First Vlog! “Love Always Protects”

I decided to start doing vlog posts once a week, every Tuesday. This is my first one ever! This is a continuation of my love series from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. Check it out below or on YouTube! Here is the Scripture (Ephesians 4:17-32) I mentioned in the video: 17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so…

    Love is Not Proud

In 1 Corinthians 13, the Bible says that love is not proud. What is pride? Webster’s defines it as “a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one’s own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.” That doesn’t sound too bad. So, is pride really such a bad thing? Let’s look at God’s Word. What does Scripture say about pride? Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18) In his pride the wicked man does not seek Him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. (Psalm 10:4) When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but…

Book Review: Think Better, Live Better

So, I promised when I made my post 12 Books for Christian Living that I would read and review each one. I just finished Joel Osteen’s book, “Think Better, Live Better.” And here is my honest review. I loved it! It had just the right amount of truth and encouragement that I needed at this time of my life. Let me break this down into a short overview of each chapter. But I highly recommend that you read this book for yourself because you won’t get the truth and encouragement you need from this quick breakdown. Chapter One: Reprogram Your Mind This chapter was talking about how our minds are…

    12 Books for Christian Living

The Bible is our greatest guide to life and tells us how God wants us to live, how we should treat one another, and what we should be doing with our lives. But sometimes, I find it hard to always understand what the Lord is trying to tell me. And I know from experience that it helps me grow when I read about other people who have the same problems, the same struggles, as I do and have gone through it and successfully come out the other side. I also know that I need constant (daily, sometimes hourly) encouragement to make it through stressful times. So, here are twelve books…
