    In the Valley

We all go through valleys in life. No one wants to because being in a valley isn’t fun, sometimes it doesn’t even seem fair. Maybe you’re obediently and faithfully following God. You expect to be prospering and succeeding, right? But instead, God is leading you through a valley. King David said in Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk     through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil,     for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff,     they comfort me. We need to remember not to be afraid when we walk through the valley. A valley is usually a place of confusion, frustration, irritation, and yes, fear. We don’t know…

    God is Our Shepherd

The first Scriptures that I memorized as a child were all of Psalm 23. In fact, I’m going to write it here from memory: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He leads me on the path of righteousness for His name’s sake. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil,…

    Doubt is Not Okay

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of preachers saying that doubt is okay. Now, their point is probably valid – I haven’t watched all of their sermons and maybe they’re just saying that God won’t punish us for doubting, which I believe is true. And yes, God can “handle” our doubts (I hear that from preachers a lot) and I think what they mean by those words is that God isn’t thrown off when we doubt Him, which is also true because He already knew that we would doubt Him and when. However, nowhere in the Bible does it say that doubt is okay. In fact, God’s Word says the…

    A Few Thoughts

I know I already posted today and this post won’t be long, I just wanted to share some thoughts and things I learned just this morning while I was volunteering. Justin and I have been praying for a very long time for God to bless our finances. We need a financial miracle, to be perfectly honest, and we’ve been praying for 9 months and don’t really seem to have had any answers. I was beginning to think that maybe God wasn’t listening to my prayers anymore. But then, just today, He reminded me that He is still listening and He is always faithful. It was a small thing, but it…

    Seeking God’s Will

When we don’t know what to do next, we need to seek God’s will. There are many times when we just don’t know what to do. We’ve reached the end of our rope, done everything we can, and now we need guidance. Maybe you’re sick, or your finances are poor, or you’re struggling in your marriage. Whatever it is, God has a plan for you and for me. We can live our lives any way we want, but will that bring us joy? No, if we’re not accomplishing God’s will we won’t have joy and peace. The only way to know God’s will is to read His Word and spend…

    Partners in Faith

In 2 Corinthians 6:14 we are told: “do not be unequally yoked.” That means we should not marry non-Christians. Life is challenging and marriage can be difficult even when we share the same faith. But if we don’t share the same faith, we’re making our lives and marriages 100x harder. If you and your husband are born-again, I want to challenge you to be partners in faith. There will be a lot of challenges and trials in all our lives. All of us have times of doubt, anger, and fear no matter how spiritually mature we may be. That’s why it’s so important that we are partners in faith with…

    Faith in Your Marriage

Too many people today have a negative view of marriage because there are so many bad examples of married life. The problem with this is that it fills our minds with doubts and fears about our marriage, even thoughts of divorce. You fear that your husband will cheat on you. You fear that you’ll end up hating one another some day. You fear that eventually you’ll get a divorce. But fear and faith can’t live in the same mind. We either live in fear or we live in faith. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not…

Saturday Thoughts: Trusting God through Disappointment

I’ve told you guys before how Justin (my husband) and I have been trusting God ever since we moved to TN. We’ve been living by faith and I have constantly sought God’s will and plan for our lives. Last month I thought the Lord told me something, that a financial miracle was coming by the end of April. And I mean, I heard it multiple times when I was spending my quiet time with Him. When it didn’t come, I thought the Lord told me He was testing my faith and that the miracle would arrive within the week because I passed the test. A week has gone by and…

    The Gift of Faith

We all need to exercise faith as followers of Christ. The Bible says that we are to live by faith, not by sight (Rom. 1:17; Gal. 3:11; Heb. 10:38; 2 Cor. 5:7). And for most of us, that is really hard. In fact, I would say it’s the hardest part of being a Christian. One of the things I’ve heard most from non-Christians, on why they don’t want to be saved or why they don’t want to follow Christ, is that they can’t live by faith. They believe what they can see and what can be proven and they expect every question to be answered. But that isn’t how Christianity…

Blown and Tossed by the Wind

I’ve been seeking the Lord a lot more lately because of our financial circumstances and trying to figure out what He wants from us. And He keeps telling me over and over to trust in Him. And today, in my morning quiet time, He led me to these three verses from James. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. (James 1:6-8) The Lord revealed to me that I keep asking Him for…
