Saturday Thoughts: God is in the Details

Just like a game of chess, God is always thinking and planning several steps ahead, mainly because He already knows the future and the outcome. God is outside of time so He isn’t bound by it as we are. We can’t see the future, but He already knows what will happen. How does this relate to God is in the details, you may ask? Well, because God is always planning ahead and the details of our lives are important to Him. Most of us understand that God has a plan and purpose for us. We see big things like financial blessings, being delivered from debt, being healed from a disease,…

    The Gift of Faith

We all need to exercise faith as followers of Christ. The Bible says that we are to live by faith, not by sight (Rom. 1:17; Gal. 3:11; Heb. 10:38; 2 Cor. 5:7). And for most of us, that is really hard. In fact, I would say it’s the hardest part of being a Christian. One of the things I’ve heard most from non-Christians, on why they don’t want to be saved or why they don’t want to follow Christ, is that they can’t live by faith. They believe what they can see and what can be proven and they expect every question to be answered. But that isn’t how Christianity…

    The Gift of Knowledge

As I continue my series on the gifts of the Spirit, I want to say that there is a difference between knowledge and wisdom, and there is also a difference between having knowledge and having a gift of knowledge. The difference between knowledge and wisdom is that knowledge is defined as “acts, information, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject” while wisdom is defined as “the soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgment.” Did you catch the keyword in the definition of wisdom? “Application.” You see, we can all have…

    Hearing from God

I’m going to take a break from my series on sin because God has been speaking to my heart and gave me some things He wants me to talk about on my blog for the week. Today’s topic: Hearing from God. In my quiet time this week I heard the Lord say to my heart that He wants to speak to all His children, but that many of us just aren’t listening. Maybe we don’t take the time to really sit down and have a daily quiet time with Him, or when we do have a quiet time we’re focused on speaking to Him ourselves (prayer) but we don’t just…

Don’t Let the Sun Go Down

Six of the sins I listed in the beginning of my series on sin all pretty much go together: murder, strife, malice, anger, rage, and brawling – they are all a progression of one sin. Let me define them all real quick just so we know exactly what we’re discussing. Strife = angry or bitter disagreement over fundamental issues; conflict Malice = the intention or desire to do evil; ill will Anger = a strong feeling of annoyance, displeasure, or hostility Rage = violent, uncontrollable anger Brawling = fight or quarrel in a rough or noisy way Murder = the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another Okay, stay with me here in this…

    The Dangerous Threesome

There are three very dangerous sins that, in a way, go together: greed, envy, and idolatry. I say that they are dangerous because they lead to many other sins and ultimately pull us away from following the Lord Jesus and living the way He wants us to live. I talked in another post about how godless our society has become or has really always been but now it’s just more out in the open, but this series on sin is not for the non-Christians, it is for those who claim to be born-again followers of Jesus and struggle with sin, just as we all do. We live in a world…

Blown and Tossed by the Wind

I’ve been seeking the Lord a lot more lately because of our financial circumstances and trying to figure out what He wants from us. And He keeps telling me over and over to trust in Him. And today, in my morning quiet time, He led me to these three verses from James. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do. (James 1:6-8) The Lord revealed to me that I keep asking Him for…

My First Vlog! “Love Always Protects”

I decided to start doing vlog posts once a week, every Tuesday. This is my first one ever! This is a continuation of my love series from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. Check it out below or on YouTube! Here is the Scripture (Ephesians 4:17-32) I mentioned in the video: 17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so…
